The five TED talks

My 5 Lives as an Artist (TED2010, Long Beach, 2010, 18:24). Cartoonist to painter, media darling to outcast, son to father. Five lives so far, and the claim under all of them: instability is the material. Each collapse paid for the next reinvention.

Shake Up Your Story (TEDGlobal 2011, Edinburgh, 2011, 4:31). Pop-It, the children’s book you shake. Shake the iPad and the parents change: two dads, two moms, a mom and a dad. Four minutes on teaching children perspective before anything else.

What’s Your 200-Year Plan? (TEDxSummit, Doha, 2012, 10:59). Retire the five-year plan. A 200-year plan runs past your own death, which is the point: it makes you ask what you are building that outlives you.

What Happens Now That I Can Read Your Brainwaves? (TEDMED 2013, Washington DC, 2013, 10:09). If seeing is believing, what does belief look like? Paintings that read the viewer back through EEG, the work Mona Lisa 2.0 came out of. The line between artist and audience goes soft.

Coloring Outside the Lines (Nat Geo Live, Emerging Explorer, 2014, 13:14). The National Geographic stage. The cartoons, the canvases, the works you take part in, and why none of them stayed inside the lines.

Other stages

Bringing Art to Life (INK, Lavasa, 2010, 3:00). The first INK conference. An early version of everything since: paintings that refuse to stay still.

One of the Most Remarkable People in the World (TEDxGateway, Mumbai, 2012, 13:52). TEDx gave the upload that title, not me. The career talk for Mumbai: Pop-It, multiple perspectives, reinvention as a method.

Sharing the Art (TEDxMidwest, Chicago, 2012, 9:59). Art is worth more shared than owned. The audience becomes a co-creator.

My Many Lives as an Artist (TEDxSpenceSchool, New York, 2012, 10:23). The five lives, retold for a room of students. Failure as fuel. A single perspective as the thing to outgrow.

Art You Bring to Life (TED Archive, 2016, 2:55). A short TED talk, posted by the TED Archive in 2016. Artworks that respond to whoever stands in front of them.

We Are All Storytellers (Boma Momentum, Grand Rex, Paris, 2020, 9:17). Paris, at the Grand Rex, weeks before the world shut its doors. We are all storytellers, and the story we tell is who we get to become.

How Stories Shape Who We Are (INKWomen, 2025, 12:34). The most recent stage. Identity as a story you choose to keep telling: “We are not just the storytellers. We are the stories we choose to tell about ourselves.”
